BT UK’s cheapest broadband deal?

BT has launched what it claims is the UK’s cheapest landline and 3G broadband bundle, offering home users an ADSL plus mobile broadband package for £15.65 per month.

Over 18 months, the cheapest BT Total Broadband deal, which includes 8Mbps wireless broadband at home and 1GB monthly usage for mobile broadband, costs £308.88. That compares to £528.48 with Orange and £435 with Virgin, according to BT’s calculations.

The mobile broadband service runs on Vodafone’s HSDPA network, which offers ‘up to’ 7.2Mbps speeds and covers 80 percent of the UK. BT said the 1GB monthly data limit is enough to surf the web for 400 minutes, download one film, 48 photos, and 144 songs. Customers who need more than 1GB per month, can pay more to top up their plan.

“This is an absolutely fantastic deal, the most complete home and mobile broadband for only 56p a day is a no-brainer,” said John Petter, managing director of BT’s Consumer division.

As well as accessing the web via 3G, BT Total Broadband customers can use a network of wireless hotspots to get online when on the move. BT has partnered with Fon to give customers access to 400,000 hotspots around the world, and Starbucks to provide a free internet connection at 650 coffee shops in the UK and Ireland.

BT Broadband Experiences

MY FATHER A 65 YEAR OLD MAN OFF ILL HEALTH WAS BEING CHARGED BY 15.OO ON PREPAY SO HE WOULD ONLY BE ABLE TO MAKE CALLS IF HE HAD CREDIT, SO HE LOOKED FOR A ANOTHER CHEAPER PROVIDER, HE TRANSFERED HIS LINE TO TISACALLI IN JANUARY 2009, IN FEBRUARY HE RECEIVED A FINAL BILL FOR 59.00 PLUS 20.00 ADMIN CHARGES,WHEN I CALLED BT, THEY REEFUSED TO TELL ME THAT THE FINAL BILL WAS NOT FOR CALLS THAT HE MADE, BUT THESE WERE CANCELLATION FEE, ADN FURTHERMORE THEY PASSED HIS DETAILS TO DEBT COLLECTION AGENCY, ADDING ON THEIR CHARGES AND SOLICTORS FEE. MY FATHER CANNOT READ OR WRITE , IT IS DISGRACEFUL AND DISGUSTING, TO CHARGE MY DAD 50.00 CANCELLATION FEE AND THEN PASSED TO DCA IS BEYONG BELIEF. WHEN I CALLED BT THEY TOLD ME THAT EVEN IF I WRITE THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. AND ALSO THEY DO NOT TAKE PERSONAL CIRCUMSTANCES INTO CONSIDERATION, HOW CAN THEY SAY THAT, WE ARE REAL PEOPLE WITH REAL CIRCUMSTANCES. MY FATHER IS VERY DISTRESSED ABOUT THIS VERY UPSET BY BT SERVICE. I AM GLAD THAT HIS HAS TRANSFERED TO ANOTHER COMPANY THE FACT THAT MY FATHER HAS BEEN WITH BT FOR OVER 10 YEARS AND YET THEY HAVE CHARGED HER THESE OBSENE CHARGES AND TAKEN THIS CRAZY COURSE OF ACTION. IS , THIS ALLOWED TO HAPPEN I JUST SAW THIS SITE AND FELT THAT I HAD TO EXPRESS OUR AWFUL EXPERIENCE WITH BT .

  2. In the middle of the day, the speed of the broadband is about 2.5mb/s. This is satisfactory. But as soon as it passes 11pm SHARP, it drops to 0.1. This is utterly ridiculous and I can't run on such a low speed. I am constantly disconnecting. I am doing everything I can to leave BTs rubbish service.

Im a mentaly Ill man of 40 I have a condition which puts my brain in hyper mode 24/7 I have an IQ of 189 and sleep just 3 hours every 24 due to my condition… I have a linked condition called excessive violence disorder which is triggerd when overly streesed … and can sometimes end up with me being ( contained ) in social sevices care.. I have tried to exsplaine this to BT, and they seem to have taken advantageof the predicerment Im in by compleatly ignoring every thing I say.. I have just recentlypaid my internet bill 2,6,09 – and phoned them to say I had 0n the 8th I got a letter saying I had missed payment and was going to be charged £7.50 excess for not paying on time???
    I phoned again and had to resort to stiff words as the call center staff are totaly oblivious to rational thought !!! and kept asking for my account number to pay said bill ??? I thought I had got through… but NO ! Ive just been cut off ??? and have had to use my care workers donggle to go on line as Im barred by law to watch Tv as it sets my aggressive side off and has been the case since the jamie bullger case

  4. I tried for an hour to get any sensible reply to a simple Question "Is my Broadband order being processed?" The website tracker couldn't find it, I was passed from pillar to post, with no conclusion whatsoever.

    The website complaints page was "under maintainance overnight" in the middle of the day.

    A shambles.
